| Description |
I took GILT 521: Digital Imagery for Teachers with Dr. Heo in the fall semester of 2018. This was an online master’s course offered by Duquesne University. According to the GITL 521 syllabus, the course focuses on various uses of multimedia for enhancing course material. As a graded class assignment in week 11, I created a screencast video using Camtasia. The intent of this project was to create a video lesson for students (flipped classroom) so that class time can be used for more meaningful learning. I had to conform to the following requirements.

| My goal for this project was to create a tutorial for the Instructional Designers in my company to help them learn how to scrub out Personal Health Information from screen captured images using Photoshop. In the tutorial, I talk about scrubbing and why it’s important to remove identifiable information from screen captured images.
I used Camtasia to record the tutorial. The tutorial starts with an animated title screen with instrumental music. Next, you see a video of me introducing the tutorial and the rationale for the tutorial. The animated title screen and lower third plate were imported from eLearning Brothers. I have a license for eLearning brothers and the animated template is royalty free. For the formative assessment, I included two quiz questions. If you get the question correct, you can continue. However, if you get the question wrong, it will jump you back to the part of the video where the answer can be found. Since the screencast is posted on YouTube, the assessment piece does not function. In the tutorial, I used the magnifying cursor effect so the learner could clearly see what I was selecting. In multiple places, I used the zoom/pan technique to focus in on the section I was talking about. Also, I used the keystroke call out feature a few times to show the shortcut keys I was using. From a learner control standpoint, the video has a play bar at the bottom. This will allow the learner to stop and start the video and give them the ability to move the video forward and back. Also, I audio narrate the entire tutorial. I used a Blue Yeti mic so my audio narration would sound clean. For the video, I used my webcam. |
